Eruption

It was a normal day at the communities of El Rodeo and San Miguel Los Lotes. These communities reside on the hillside of the Fuego Volcano, one of the 4 active volcanoes in Guatemala. Normally the volcano makes small explosions when active, they are normal for the people of the community. One day one of those "normal" explosions turned into catastrophe.

This article by BBC explains what happened that day. One of the most violent eruptions in Guatemala´s history in over 100 years. The people in El Rodeo and San Miguel didn´t have enough time to evacuate. And the ones who did, are still looking the remains of these communities for members of their families buried in pyroclastic flow, this is a mix of hot lava, ash, sand, and volcanic gas, which makes it dangerous. This pyroclastic flows can reach speeds of up to 700 km/h (450 mph), and it´s temperatures can be between 200 °C - 700 °C (390 - 1300 °F).

This was the end result of the violent eruption.
